Blogmas #19 How to Make a Biscuit (Stacker) Christmas Tree

These biscuit stacker trees are completely versatile and you can customise it to suit the look you are after. I personally just went for a simple biscuit recipe topped with white icing. But you could use shortbread, chocolate chip cookies and much more! For the icing, you could add colouring to make green and even add little baubles (aka edible silver balls).

The below recipe will make around 20 biscuits, enough for a tall stacking tree that will look good on any table this Christmas! Mine would be VERY lucky to last a few hours, let alone until Christmas day.

What You’ll Need:

  • 100g Butter
  • 50g Caster Sugar
  • 175g Plain Flour
  • Few drops of vanilla extract (optional)
  • Star-shaped Biscuit Cutters (various sizes)

Step 1

Add the butter and sugar into a bowl and mix well until fluffy.

Step 2

Add the flour to the mixture, as well as the vanilla extract if you’re using it.

Step 3

Roll out your dough to your desired thickness. At this point the biscuit dough will be quite crumbly and you may be tempted to add water, an egg, milk or more butter – but stick with it!

Step 4

Bake in the oven at gas mark 2 for 25 minutes

Step 5

Allow your biscuits to cool down completely before topping with icing and whichever decorations you have decided on

Step 6

Stack the biscuits on top of each other and enjoy!
