Easter Baking: Triple Layer Crème Egg Brownies Recipe

Warning! This may cause serious chocolate overload! But seriously, this is definitely one for those who cannot get enough chocolate. I’ve made this recipe a few times now and the batch of brownies never last long in our house!

I used Mini Eggs (Crème and Oreo) within this recipe but you could use the normal Crème Eggs; what about cutting them in half and placing them on top? If you’re going for a bit more of a ‘wow’ factor then you could even make up some white and orange fondant and drizzle over the top.

I used a cheaters way with packet mixes, because who has time for baking from scratch when you have a tiny tornado (toddler) running about? But feel free to amend how you wish and just use as a guide.



1x Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Mix
1x Betty Crocker Chewy Brownie Mix
1 Egg
2 tbsp Water
7 tbsp Oil
1x Packet of Oreos
½ Bag of Mini Crème Eggs
½ Bag of Mini Oreo Eggs


Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4 (or follow the cooking instructions for your brownie mix).

Make up the cookie dough mix, as per instructions on the packet. I personally used chocolate chip cookie dough, because you can never have too much chocolate. But use whichever flavour cookie dough you prefer.

Next, spread the dough into the bottom of your greased and lined tin.

Cover the layer of cookie dough with Oreos. I used original flavour Oreos, but use whatever takes your fancy! Whether you want to use peanut butter, mint, strawberry… it’s your choice!

Now make your brownie mix according to the instructions. I chose Betty Crocker Chewy Brownie mix because it comes out gloriously gooey! But go for whichever type of brownies you prefer. If you choose the Betty Crocker mix, then you will need egg, oil and water and mix it all until it’s been combined – warning, the mixture can often be very lumpy! But this is normal and will cook to perfection.

Spread the brownie mix over the top of the Oreos, taking care to fill in the gaps. The brownie mix I used comes out lumpy and thick, so I have to take extra care to make sure it doesn’t fall apart once it’s been baked.

Now place the brownie mix into the oven and cook for 15 minutes.

Remove from the oven and top with the mini eggs.

Replace the brownies back into the oven for the remaining 5-10 minutes.

Leave to cool, then cut into 9 pieces. Enjoy!
