Review: Bakerdays Letterbox Cake

*This post is in association with Bakerdays

With Christmas just around the corner, it is time to start thinking about gift giving! I’m not sure about you, but I often find it difficult coming up with new ideas every year; we love gifting unique items that our loved ones will enjoy.

The way we tell our family and friends that we care is by gifting something that was either handmade by us, specially made for them or by putting extra thought and care into what we give.

Foodie gifts are one of my favourites! We have often gifted homemade fudge, cupcakes, cookies and other edible treats – because who doesn’t enjoy a gift that you can eat?

We live in Suffolk and have done for the last five years, however a lot of our family live at least three hours away, which means that we don’t often get to visit them. Which makes Bakerdays  the perfect place to order gifts, to let our loved ones know that we are thinking of them.

When I had a look on the Bakerdays website I was impressed by their range of designs, sizes of cakes and flavours that you can choose from. I had a choice between traditional sponge, lemon drizzle, chocolate chip, fruit and even a dairy free sponge and gluten wheat free sponge.

While I was asked to review one of their Christmas designs, I had a good look at all their other ranges on offer. Bakerdays have so many options available and they really do cater for all occasions from birthdays, Valentine’s Day to sending one as a thank you. What makes their cakes even more special is that your can fully personalise your cake with text and images.

I chose their Santa design in chocolate chip and this cake costs £14.99, which includes delivery. With their super speedy delivery, you don’t have to worry about it reaching your love one in time, even if it’s ordered last minute. I ordered my cake on Monday and it was delivered to me on Wednesday!

I was slightly worried about how my cake would survive the post, after all I’ve had furniture and car seats damaged that are much less fragile. But the letterbox cake came well packaged and inside the box was a lovely little tin, Christmas cracker and the cake was well packaged inside the tin.

Removing the cake from the tin couldn’t have been easier, it even came with a pull tab so I didn’t damage the cake. The letterbox cake is 5” in diameter and easily gives you 4 portions, if you plan on sharing! (I won’t judge you if you don’t).

The cake itself was lovely, moist and very tasty. In fact, my chocolate-hating partner went in for a tiny slice but soon came back and ended up diving in for half!

Overall, I’m genuinely impressed with the quality and the service that I received. If you are planning on sending a special gift this year, you can find more information on their website.
