Review: Bakerdays Letterbox Cake*

*Please Note: The competition has now ended.

With Christmas just around the corner, we are all trying hard to think up of not only unique gifts but something that our loved ones will actually enjoy – not just throw into the cupboard and forget about.

I have often made family and friends fudge, cupcakes and other edible treats for gifts because who doesn’t enjoy a present that you can eat? That’s why I was genuinely excited to receive a message from Bakerdays asking if I would like to review one of their Letterbox cakes. Don’t forget to keep scrolling for your chance to enter my competition to win one of their beautiful Letterbox cakes for yourself!

When I had a look on their website I was impressed by their range of designs, sizes of cakes and flavours that you could choose from. I had a choice between traditional sponge, lemon drizzle, chocolate chip, fruit and even dairy free sponge and gluten wheat free sponge. That they cater for dairy free, gluten free and wheat free really won me over!

While I was asked to review one of their Christmas designs, they have so many options and really do cater for all occasions from birthdays, valentines and even sending one as a thank you. What makes them better is that their huge range of choice allows you to fully personalise your cake with text and images – to make it even more personal.

I chose their Santa design in chocolate chip and this cake costs £14.99, which includes delivery. What further impressed me was the speedy delivery, I ordered my cake on Monday and it was delivered on Wednesday!

I was slightly worried about how my cake would survive the post, after all I’ve had furniture and car seats damaged that are much less fragile. But the letterbox cake came well packaged and inside the box was a lovely little tin, Christmas cracker and the cake was wrapped up inside the tin.

Removing the cake from the tin couldn’t have been easier, it even came with a pull tab so I didn’t damage the cake. The letterbox cake is 5” in diameter and easily gives you 4 portions, if you plan on sharing! (I won’t judge you if you don’t).

The cake itself was lovely, moist and very tasty. In fact, my chocolate-hating partner went in for a tiny slice but soon came back and ended up diving in for half!

Overall, I’m genuinely impressed with the quality and the service that I received. If you are planning on sending a special gift this year, you can find more information on their website.
