I have never been one for making New Year resolutions. Although, I love a list and the feeling of being organised – not just for around the house but also in life too, so I do often make goals throughout the year. There is something about a New Year that very much feels like a clean slate.
As a couple, 2019 was all about babies for us. We spent the entire year trying for a baby and I literally spent the year either pregnant or trying to be. It was mentally exhausting and by the time the end of 2019 was nearing, it felt like it had been one long year. Whilst we were lucky enough to fall pregnant quick (both times), losing our baby at the beginning of the year knocked us for six. At one point neither of us could see the end of the grief and couldn’t imagine that we would be starting the following year with a baby in our arms.
Spending the entire year so focused on just the one goal (growing our family) was so exhausting but our gorgeous little boy has been so worth the wait.
Now that it’s 2020, this year will be differently focused. I was will be career focused and focusing much more on getting ‘me’ back.
In 2020 I want to focus on myself properly for the first time in 7 years. I will be far more career focused than I ever have before, start writing my book, take steps to getting my freelancing back on track and take blogging far more seriously. It is no secret that I would love nothing more than to be a stay-at-home parent, raising my babies whilst working from home. I want to spend my life raising little humans and writing. This is the year that I try to make that happen.
The goal is to end the year where writing is my sole income and having had a great year with my two boys.
There are other things that I would like to do too. I want to travel more, see family more often, go on more holidays, spend more time outside with the kids and never waste a day. I have even started keeping a little bucket list so that I can try to be better at living life. I find it so easy to fall into the trap of living in the future but it’s now time to start living and making memories with my babies.
Do you have anything that you’re looking forward to in 2020?
